Meet Our Executive Chef – Awanish Roy

Born in Bihar, India, the land of Buddha and the great Mathematician Aryabhata, Awanish started his career with The Oberoi Hotels working at both the Bangalore and Mumbai locations, at their flagship Indian restaurant concept ‘Kandahar’.

He then moved to London to work with the iconic The Cinnamon Club in Westminster. After a successful stint there having mastered the art of cooking Indian Cuisine, Awanish then worked with Roti Chai in London’s West End before successfully opening Chai Ki in Canary Wharf.


He then moved to Surrey to open the highly acclaimed Saffron Summer restaurants in Kingston and Reigate and was recognised as the best Indian Chef in Surrey, winning several awards.


During his career spanning over two decades, Awanish has cooked for several Prime Ministers and celebrities like Sir Cliff Richard, Stevie Wonder and Sachin Tendulkar, as well as privately for bankers and hedge fund managers.


He has worked alongside a number of top chefs in the business, learning and sharing skills, and has travelled the world promoting Indian Food which he is very passionate about!


A keen cricket enthusiast, Awanish loves to play and discuss cricket with his son when he is not working.
